SideBet.chat ("SideBet," "we," "us," or "our") is a peer-to-peer social debt tracking platform. We are the data controller for personal information collected through our website and app at sidebet.chat.

We use your data to:

• Authenticate you and maintain your account
• Display your bets, debts, crews, and leaderboard standings
• Send you in-app and email notifications about your bets (e.g., someone accepted your bet, a bet was settled)
• Auto-settle bets linked to sports fixtures using third-party sports data
• Improve the Service through analytics and debugging
• Respond to your support requests
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your data to third parties.

We use minimal cookies and browser storage:

• Session cookie: Required to keep you logged in. Expires when you sign out or your session times out.
• CSRF token: A security cookie that protects against cross-site request forgery attacks.
• Locale preference: Stored locally to remember your language preference.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or cross-site analytics cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but this will prevent you from staying logged in.

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. Bet records and associated data are retained to maintain the integrity of your history and others' records.

When you delete your account, we will delete your personal profile information within 30 days. Some anonymized or aggregated data (e.g., aggregate bet counts) may be retained in our analytics indefinitely as it cannot identify you.

Server logs are retained for up to 90 days for security and debugging purposes.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate personal data
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and personal data
• Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
• Objection: Object to certain processing activities
• Restriction: Request we restrict how we use your data

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@sidebet.chat. We will respond within 30 days. Many of these actions can also be done directly in your account settings.

SideBet is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will delete it promptly.

We take security seriously. All data is encrypted in transit via HTTPS/TLS. Database contents are encrypted at rest. We use secure, short-lived session tokens and rotate secrets regularly.

No system is perfectly secure. If you discover a security vulnerability, please disclose it responsibly to security@sidebet.chat and we'll address it promptly.

SideBet operates from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the US, your data may be transferred to and processed in the US, where data protection laws may differ from your country's laws.

By using the Service, you consent to this transfer. We take steps to ensure your data receives adequate protection in accordance with this Privacy Policy wherever it is processed.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. For material changes, we'll notify you via email or an in-app notice at least 7 days before the change takes effect.

Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
